A memo was sent on July 12, 2017 from the Florida Department of Education to the Financial Aid Directors at Post-secondary Institutions. Written in this memo was updated award amounts for Bright Futures Scholarship for the 2017-18 academic year.
Florida Academic Scholars has moved their award amount from $103 dollars per credit hour to 100% of tuition at public universities and colleges, or an amount equivalent at a nonpublic institution. Florida Academic Scholars are also eligible to receive an addition $300 for both fall and spring semesters to help cover books and other college expenses.
Florida Medallion Scholarship award for 4-year institutions has remained $77 per credit hour, and has gone down to $63 per credit hour at 2-year institutions. Upper-Division Programs at Florida Colleges will receive $53 per credit hour, and Career or Technical Centers will be given $39 per credit hour.
Gold Seal Vocational Scholars and CAPE Vocational Scholars will both receive $39 per credit hour for a Career Certificate Program, $39 per credit hour for Applied Technology Diploma Programs, or $48 per credit hour for Technical Degree Education Programs.
Gold Seal CAPE Vocational Scholars are to receive $48 per credit hour while attending a Bachelor of Science Program with Statewide Articulation Agreement, or if they attend a Florida College System Bachelor of Applied Science Program they will receive $48 per credit hour.
